My name is Matt, and I am 32 years old from Snohomish, Washington. I dropped out of high school my Junior year. I went to work in the construction industry. I leveraged my construction skills through the real estate boom by flipping houses. Pride blurred my vision and my partying turned to bigger risks. I soon found OxyContin which ultimately lead to intravenous Heroin use. I lost multiple homes to foreclosure, cars repossessed and the collapse of my business. Within twelve months I found myself no longer living in my luxurious home but rather residing in a tent.
I ended up moving into the Snohomish County jail for eight months. It was there that I found God! The problem was when I was released I left God there. I entered the Adult and Teen Challenge program in Seattle on December 3, 2014. It was there that I faced my demons and gained the tools to conquer them!
Upon completion, Jesus prompted me to give back to the ministry that He used to save me. I am now a student intern here at the Seattle Metro Campus, and I have also been blessed with a part-time maintenance job at NewLife Church in Renton. Freedom is truly found in serving God’s people!
